Today I want to start by talking about Synergy.

Most people have an idea of what synergy is, but few give it the attention it really deserves.

Online dictionary.com defines Synergy as: "the interaction of elements that, when combined, produce a total effect that is greater than the sum of the individual elements, contributions". 

When I think of synergy, I instantly think of music – specifically an orchestra or band.

Think about it. Any one instrument can sound nice. But when you combine them, the effect can be exponential. It can transport you to another time and place. It can bring tears to your eyes or stop you in your tracks. The sum of the whole is definitely greater than any individual part or instrument.

And synergy is everywhere you look...

You see it in business. Where two business partners work off each other to create something incredible. The world’s most valuable company, Apple computer's co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak may be an example.

You see it in relationships. When two great parents come together to create a beautiful family.

You see it in nature. All the creatures and plants combine to form an incredible ecosystem or perhaps a rainforest.

It featured in Napoleon Hill's classic book 'Think and Grow Rich'. Specifically in the Mastermind principle, and also with the combined 13 steps to riches.

In my business, specifically, it has been the synergistic relationship with my General Manager Jasi, for nine years now that has produced results beyond what any one of us could have achieved individually.

And it also features prominently in my events, specifically the Ultimate Property Conference, where 5 individual strategies can be combined to produce exponential results.

Probably the strongest synergistic effect between two of our strategies would be that of buying discount property and quick cosmetic renovations.

To give an example (and excluding transaction costs) - if you can buy a property $50,000 below market value and then do a quick cosmetic renovation and add $50,000 value - you have just essentially made double the profit by combining two strategies in just the one deal.

That is the power of synergy.
